“We played well in the first half of the field, were delicious with six holes left, but we couldn’t catch up with the opponent. It felt bad,” Horschel said at the end of the game.

As for Cantlay – Schauffele, from holes 12 to 17, all par, bogey the last hole to -29. Zurich Classic 2022 takes place on TPC Lousiana par72, has a prize fund of 8.3 million USD, fourball matches for rounds 1 and 3, foursomes for rounds 2 and 4.

This year, Cantlay – Schauffele also raised the fourball ceiling to 59 strokes (round 1) and a three-round aggregate score (-29), while Jason Day – Jason Scrivener hit 65 strokes to set the foursome ceiling.

In fourball, each player hits his own ball and only takes the member’s best hole score to combine the round results. As for foursome, the two members share a ball. If one player tees off on the odd-numbered hole, the other tees off on the even-numbered hole. They take turns making shots until the ball enters the hole, thereby deciding the round.

In the prize fund of $8.3 million, the Cantlay team took home $ 2,398 million. The Burns team that finished second shared $949,400. Third place (-24) with a bonus of 641,175 USD belongs to Doc Redman – Sam Ryder.

On the PGA Tour ahead of Zurich Classic 2022, Cantlay, 30, has won six titles and is the defending FedEx Cup champion, while Schauffele is two years younger and two Cups less. This week, Cantlay is fifth in the world, seven places above Schauffele.
