Before that, Duong was studying at home when he heard a cry for help outside the N1 canal – Song Rac irrigation system (in village 5, Cam Minh commune). The house is near the irrigation canal. Duong thought someone was drowning, so he immediately ran out and saw two children, Vo Thanh Anh (SN 2010) and Le Thanh Dung (SN 2010, living in Cam Minh commune) fighting in the middle of the water. .

Immediately, Duong jumped into the canal and swam out to pull both Anh and Dung to the shore. With known skills, Duong in turn performed CPR, chest compressions, and saved the lives of 2 children.
