The 2 latest events to be canceled are the women’s push up and the men’s hammer throw. The reason why these two contents were canceled is because not enough at least 3 countries registered to attend. In the women’s weightlifting event, only Indonesia and Thailand registered to compete. While the men’s hammer throwing content only 2 teams from Malaysia and Thailand registered.
Thus, before the opening day, the SEA Games saw a total of 3 competition contents removed from the list. Previously, the women’s beach handball content was also determined not to take place because only Vietnam and Thailand had registered.
Without any further changes, the 31st SEA Games will have a total of 523 competitions in 40 sports. The opening ceremony of the SEA Games takes place on May 12, but some content will start from May 6. Notably, the opening match of U23 Vietnam team against U23 Indonesia in men’s football content.
