Facebook Messenger allows displaying status like the old Yahoo Messenger
Perhaps we are all too familiar with the “online” or “offline” statuses in Facebook Messenger. However, recently, this messaging platform has allowed users to display the status status at will. This feature will probably make many people think of the status in the old Yahoo Messenger.
Although Yahoo Messenger is dead, the 8x or early 9x generations certainly still remember the memories associated with this chat application. Although Yahoo Messenger is just an old platform, there are features that make users feel very excited to use and remember until now.
Being able to set the status status at will is one of the interesting features of Yahoo Messenger. For example, you can put a status line full of mood, to show that you are sad. Or simply notify that you are busy, so that the sender does not get annoyed when you wait forever and you still have not replied to the message.
Now, Facebook Messenger will let you do that too, with the Custom Status feature. To be able to use this feature, you can click on the profile picture in the top left corner in the Messenger app. Then select Custom Status, with the available statuses that Facebook suggests, or you can set your own status in the box below.
You can also customize the display time of the status line, by clicking the edit button below and selecting the corresponding timelines. Thus, after a certain period of time, the status will disappear by itself without you having to adjust it again.
The user’s status line will appear below the name in the contacts section. But Facebook is also testing to display the status line in the News Feed, along with the instant messaging box to increase interaction between users.
This feature is still in beta, so only some users have it and others haven’t. You may have to wait a bit longer, if you don’t see Custom Status in your Facebook Messenger app.
