According to the newspaper Guardian On May 5, Jean-Pierre will be the first black person and the first gay person to hold the role of White House press secretary. She has also replaced Ms. Psaki on many occasions, most recently when Ms. Psaki had to be isolated due to COVID-19.

In his statement, Mr. Biden also praised Jean-Pierre’s “experience, talent and integrity”.

“Jill and I have known and respected Karine for a long time, and she will be a strong voice on behalf of me and this administration,” Biden said.

Besides, the US leader also praised Ms. Psaki’s role during the past time, including the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, the wave of epidemics caused by the Omicron variant, etc.

May 13 will be Psaki’s final day as White House press secretary.
