The Ministry of Health said that in the past 24 hours, the whole country recorded 2,269 new infections in 51 provinces and cities, down 1,077 cases compared to yesterday. Among the new cases, there is 1 imported case and 2,268 domestic cases, 1,529 community cases.

The localities that recorded the highest number of infections compared to the previous day: Dak Nong (up 11), Ba Ria – Vung Tau (up 10), Phu Yen (up 8).

Since the beginning of the epidemic, Vietnam has had 10,676,184 infections, ranking 12th out of 227 countries and territories, while with the ratio of infections per million people, Vietnam ranks 104 out of 227 countries and territory.

In the fourth outbreak (from April 27, 2021 to present), the whole country recorded 10,668,433 cases, of which 9,317,774 patients have been declared cured. Localities with high cumulative infections during this outbreak: Hanoi (1,591,431), Ho Chi Minh City (608,729), Nghe An (482,633), Bac Giang (385,799), Binh Duong (383,517).

Regarding the treatment situation, the total number of cured cases is 9,320,591. Currently, 473 patients are receiving oxygen, including 32 invasive mechanical ventilation and 2 ECMO cases.

From 5:30 p.m. on May 7 to 5:30 p.m. on May 8, one death was recorded in Tay Ninh. The total number of deaths from Covid-19 in Vietnam so far is 43,056 cases, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections.

The total number of deaths ranked 24/227 territories, the number of deaths per 1 million people ranked 130/227 countries and territories in the world. Compared with Asia, the total number of deaths ranked 6/49, ranked 3rd in ASEAN.

Regarding the testing situation, from April 27, 2021 up to now, 39,501,731 samples have been taken, equivalent to 85,805,439 turns of people.

Regarding the vaccination situation, the total number of vaccines administered is 215,688,790 doses. In there:

+ Number of injections for people aged 18 and over is 196,483,237 doses: 1st dose is 71,452,664 doses; The second dose is 68,658,415 doses; The third dose is 1,505,954 doses; The additional dose was 15,241,704 doses; The booster dose is 39,624,500 doses.

+ Number of doses for children aged 12-17 is 17,385,055 doses: 1st dose is 8,911,337 doses; The second dose is 8,473,718 doses.

+ Number of doses for children from 5-11 years old is 1,820,498 doses (1st dose).
