A hair salon in China is being investigated by the authorities for fraudulent behavior, after a customer’s debunking post.

Mr. Liu asked again and was explained by the salon staff that the price of 398 yuan ($60) was only for 1 part of curling and styling on the head. While, the hairdresser “arbitrarily” divided Mr. Liu’s hair into 12 parts, so the amount increased 12 times to 4,776 yuan ($720). But when the hair was done, Mr. Liu received an invoice that was 12 times more expensive than the $60 originally agreed with the salon staff.

Faced with the dilemma, Mr. Liu did not know what to do other than try to pay the full amount stated in the salon bill, even though he thought he had been cheated. And yet, Mr. Liu also had to pay 3,000 yuan ($447) for the “gift card”, after the salon staff told him he could get a 50% discount when using the service.

After the incident, Mr. Liu took to social media and shared a post about his traumatic experience. This information quickly caught the attention of the market regulator of Hangzhou city and opened an investigation on May 6.

The hair salon is accused of defrauding the price of services and has admitted to lying to customers, according to Hangzhou city officials.

In addition, when the functional forces came to check, the hair shop was also found to use lotion bottles originating from Korea but not labeled in Chinese, and this is an illegal action in China. This lotion bottle was also used in Mr. Liu’s hair care process.

The incident caused the hair salon to be asked to close its operations during the investigation period, as well as to change the information on the price list publicly with customers. It is not clear whether Mr. Liu will get his money back from the hair salon.

It is common for customers in China to be charged extra and receive sky-high bills.

For example, in February, a woman complained that a major hospital in the capital Beijing had forced her to pay an additional 38,000 yuan ($5,655) to preserve her mother’s body for three days after she died. passed away.

Or like in September 2021, Zhengzhou TV reported that a woman had to pay 198,000 yuan (US$29,465) for an hour of body massage at a beauty establishment in Zhengzhou city of He province. Male. The local market regulator has also stepped in to investigate the incident.
