There were no casualties as the ball fell outside a house in Khambholaj village, the other two landed in an open area in the villages of Bhalej and Rampura.

According to media reports, locals rushed out of their homes for fear of a possible earthquake after they heard a loud sound.

Local police recorded that the incident took place on May 12 and lasted until a few days later. Experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL – an institute run by the Space Department of the Government of India) have entered the investigation.

These metal spheres are suspected to be satellite debris.

In April, space debris also fell from the sky in the state of Maharashtra.

According to a NASA report, there is about 25,182 space debris in low Earth orbit. In which, India “contributed” about 114 space debris. The region “contributing” the most space debris is Russia and its allies in the Commonwealth.
