On May 25, Tra Vinh Province’s Investigative Police Agency issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and take into custody four defendants for investigation on the crime of “violating regulations on bidding, causing serious consequences.” serious consequences” occurred at the provincial Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
The defendants prosecuted include: Tran Dac Thanh (Deputy Director of the Department of Health), Nguyen Van Le (former Director of the Provincial CDC), Le Van Thanh (Deputy Head of the Department of Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging of the CDC) and Nguyen. Van Truyen (Expert in the Pharmacy Department – Department of Health of Tra Vinh province).
According to initial investigation results, from 2021-2022, the four defendants cooperated with Viet A Technology Joint Stock Company (Viet A Company) to carry out 8 bidding packages to provide medical equipment and test kits. Tests, biological products, consumable medical supplies for the prevention of Covid-19 (corresponding to 8 contracts) with a total amount of more than 36 billion VND. In which, Viet A Company signed with Tra Vinh Department of Health 5 bidding packages and signed with CDC Tra Vinh 3 bidding packages.

During the implementation of the bidding packages, the above defendants acted to legalize bidding procedures, causing damage to the state with a total amount of about 7.6 billion VND. (at the Department of Health about 6.9 billion, at CDC about 0.7 billion).
