About 5 o’clock on June 2, when he woke up, Giang suddenly received a message from his sister’s Facebook, with the content asking about her health. After that, this “sister” asked Mr. Giang to transfer 25 million VND into the account of a stranger named Hoang Yen Nhi – Asia Bank (ACB); STK: 246… – to deal with private affairs.
Thinking it was his sister, Mr. Giang transferred 25 million VND to the above account. Just a few minutes later, the subject continued to ask Mr. Giang to transfer 3 more times to the above account; with the amount of 45 million dong, 65 million dong and 80 million dong, respectively. Total 215 million.
Then, in order to build trust, this subject continued to use the language to text and use the same way of addressing Mr. Giang as Ms. Dung, and he often exchanged messages with each other. After that, the subject continued to ask to transfer 2 more times (100 million VND and 85 million VND) through the account of Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank); STK: 9336… – also named Hoang Yen Nhi.
Just in the morning, Mr. Duong Truong Giang made 6 transactions via Mobile Banking application transferred to the accounts of 2 banks ACB and Vietcombank, both named Hoang Yen Nhi with the amount of 400 million VND.
At 10:46 a.m., Mr. Giang received a message from Facebook “Nhung Duong” with the content: “Eng, my Facebook has been hacked, don’t believe anyone who texted me”. At that time, directly communicating with his sister, Giang realized that he had fallen into the trap of a bad object.
Mr. Giang said 400 million VND was the amount he had just been lent by a bank in the area, for the purpose of paying for materials and workers because he was rebuilding a new house for his family. However, before he could pay, the bad guy used “tricks” to cheat money, so that yesterday, his whole family was like “sitting on the fire”.
The victim then filed a report with the Dong Trach Commune Police.
Responding to a reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Khac Huy – Chief of Dong Trach Commune Police – confirmed that he had received the criminal denunciation report of Mr. Duong Truong Giang and carried out preliminary verification steps.
