Why do tourist planes always feel cramped?

New design for the seat compartment plane

When traveling by commercial aircraft, the thing that makes visitors less excited about the experience is the cramped space in the cabin. The narrow personal spaces and the path between the rows of seats that always cause two people going in opposite directions to avoid each other is also uncomfortable for many people.

According to aviation interior consulting firm LIFT Aero Design, they are working on a broader concept of folding aircraft seats called Paradym.

On the outside, a larger plane means more usable space inside. Passengers will be provided with better seats and more spacious aisles. Even when the flight attendant pushes the cart, passengers can still “squeeze” in the opposite direction.

Essentially, today’s airplane seat dimensions date back to 1954 and the prototypes of the Boeing 707. That’s why today’s 737 has the same fuselage width as an airplane from nearly 70 years ago, whereas today’s 737 has the same fuselage width. , according to statistics, the human body today is a bit larger than it was in the past. Therefore, when the 707 was born, no one criticized the cramped cabin.

The Paradym concept offers a wider triple seat in single-aisle aircraft, with 50cm between the armrests instead of the current 30cm. Each row will also have two armrests between the seats instead of one.

The Paradym model is not simply a way to create comfort for passengers, but a spacious cabin with a flexibly adjustable row of seats. This means the seats can be used to create a variety of designs, modifying the seat depending on the needs of the airlines.
