In the draw Germany 1-1 in the second round of Group A3 UEFA Nations League on the evening of June 7, Kane scored from the penalty spot in the 88th minute. This was the 28-year-old striker’s 50th goal for England. Before that, he matched Charlton in the list of players with the most goals for the national team. Kane is only three goals behind Wayne Rooney – who retired in 2021.

Charlton won the World Cup and the Ballon d’Or in 1966. He held the old record for scoring for England from 1970 to September 2015, before being overtaken by Rooney.

Kane scored his first England goal in March 2015, and it took a total of 71 games to reach the 50-goal mark (average rate of 0.7 goals per game). Meanwhile, Rooney needs 120 games to get 53 goals (ratio 0.44) and Charlton needs 106 games to get 49 goals (ratio 0.46).

Yesterday was England’s first point at Nations League A 2022-2023. In the opening match, Kane and his teammates lost 0-1 to Hungary. On June 11 and 14, I will meet Italy and kick back with Hungary.

Italy is leading Group 3, with four points from two matches. Hungary is second with three points, while Germany has two points and England is last with one point. Nations League A consists of four groups. The top team in each group will advance to the championship final round in 2023.
