Why do many young people still accept it?

The job of serving restaurants, shops, and cafes is no longer a stranger to students. But working as a waitress is just as dramatic as the office. Even the service was poorly reviewed by customers, and posted on the internet a lot.

Let’s talk with young people who are working in service to understand more from an insider’s perspective. Everyone has their own reason to start this work. And even though they are commented on as low-wage, miserable, unprofessional… they still have been and are doing – why? Let’s listen to insiders talk!

Poor salary, bad boss, drama guest: Why are you still working as a waiter?

Huong (18 years old, currently working as a waiter for a coffee shop in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) said: “I’m a freshman, because I have no work experience, I just came to Saigon, so I’m new to Saigon. I applied for a coffee shop job, partly because I wanted to have a job so I could pay for my accommodation, without having to ask my parents.”

Unlike Huong, Nam (19 years old, currently working as a waiter for a hot pot restaurant in Go Vap District) thinks that because he doesn’t like a confined environment like an office, wants to exercise a lot, but has no experience at all. So my friend chose to work as a waiter at a hot pot restaurant to earn more money to shop for himself.

As for Nga (18 years old, serving a restaurant in District 1), she shared that her friend is still a student and needs to find a part-time job in the evening, so a job as a waitress and a restaurant is the right choice. thought. “I go to school, so my time is quite confusing, it is difficult to apply for internship positions of the company because most of them are forced to work for a fixed period of time. It’s just a school schedule,” she confided.

Oanh (20 years old, working as a waitress for more than 1 year at a famous expats restaurant in District 2) said that she liked the freedom and comfort of serving: “To be honest, I used to I applied for an internship, became a tutor, but I honestly still came back to this job (laughs), for a simple thinker like myself, I find this job quite comfortable, even though working in shifts has I work hard, meet difficult customers, but outside of the service time, I don’t need to carry the work home, nor do I need to think about it.”

Service Inappropriate Attitude: Yes or No – How’s it going?

Nga said that she once met a case of a rather strange customer. Although the rule in her buffet is that only children under 1m tall are free, and children from 1-1.4m are charged half price, from 1.4m and above are counted as adults, guests still think that the child is still young and does not need to pay 1 ticket like an adult even though the child is over 1.45m tall.

“The parents of this child insisted that the child was only young, did not eat much, charged the adult price was not correct, and even sued the whole restaurant. No matter how I explain, I will not listen, the customer also makes a fuss, speaks loudly, yells at unqualified staff. That period had to ask the manager to come down to solve it. The next morning, my shop was voted 1 star, also called the staff attitude is not good. I’m really awkward, even though I’m not wrong,” Nga added.

Huong also laughs unless she shares a story about serving a poor god, she said: “I once met a customer who took someone else’s item by mistake in the shop, I took the initiative to meet this customer privately to remind the customer not to arbitrarily took things, but then they beat me and livestream told me that I made up stories, the shop selling bad drinks and the staff were not good, at that time I was very sad, fortunately there was a camera recorded, easy to confront with unlucky guest.”

Nam thinks that working as a waiter at his hot pot restaurant is equally as dramatic as he is often scrutinized by customers if the staff gathers to talk in his free time: “Usually after serving customers, we usually gather together. Talking to each other, just having fun, it’s not a problem, but guests are often annoyed, once a guest even cursed us for daring to glance sideways, speak ill of guests, even though we didn’t do anything. .”

Nam added: “It’s true that we were more careful after that, no one dared to talk or laugh anymore, but the customer’s reaction was a bit too much.”

Reaction to low reviews from guests: Surprised people, people just laugh it off because it’s too absurd

After a customer posted a livestream video saying bad things about her on social networks, Huong was shocked. She thinks that she is just doing the right thing as a store employee, and it’s annoying to be scolded and attacked. “I just wanted to ensure the customer’s personal information, but I got involved too much, luckily there is a camera as proof, so the customer just deleted the livestream post, I have never received an apology from her. .” – she confided.

As for Russia, it is too unreasonable that an employee who only does his or her responsibilities will be judged by guests for a bad attitude. “I need tolerance and a clearer view of the service profession, our salary is very low, and we are not making it difficult for customers. There are rules in our work that we have to follow, or else we just have to pay for the restaurant.” – she decided.

Oanh believes that serving is like “making a bride of a hundred families”, because the service profession must both ensure the requirements of the manager and retain customers. “I feel extremely sad when many customers always think of themselves as god, do whatever they like, each shop has its own rules, hope everyone treats us like friends, and if we are wrong , please judge us in a more civilized way.”

And Nam just laughed loudly and then said a short sentence: “How much money can buy a bunch of peace. How can you afford to buy such a low salary?”

Conclusion:

The story of customers “rate” with low staff attitudes is always rife online, but judging who is wrong and who is right needs an outsider’s objective view and a more civilized way of solving problems from insiders.

Finally, whether as a server or as a customer, please respect everyone’s work. Let’s treat, look at problems in a civilized way and respect each other so that all problems are solved neatly, not a topic of like sentences from one side’s point of view.
