Japan to lift restrictions on epidemic prevention from March 21

Notice from Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio made on March 16.

This is the first time that Japan has completely lifted epidemic prevention restrictions since early January. The decision was made in the context of a steady decline in the number of new infections in Japan last week.

On March 15, Japan recorded 50,000 new cases of COVID-19, halving compared to 100,000 cases recorded in early February.

With the lifting of key epidemic prevention restrictions, the Japanese Government expects to be able to expand production and consumption activities to promote economic recovery, which has been heavily damaged by the epidemic.
