Most tourists who take this road only stop to check in at the cliffs of the gods – a place that juts out with views of the entire National Highway 4C below, hills and mountains. But our goal does not stop here. We continued to find our way to the cliffs, through small valleys on both sides of the steep rocks, above, people diligently burning their fields to prepare new crops.

At a small fork, we stopped, my guess was to turn onto the highway. So we parked the motorbike on the side of the road and started walking.

I love sightseeing because I can casually admire the view, can turn my head, look back at what I’ve just missed without thinking about stopping or crossing the street. Every trip, I always try to spend time walking on the road, in the forest, through the village. When you are too bored, you can lie down under a tree and sleep. And most of the time it was great: the weather, the nature, the people, the atmosphere.

Of course, this scene reminds me of Nepal – where people also use every little piece of land in the middle of the mountain to grow vegetables. We are tourists who like trekking, relaxing in the midst of nature, don’t care about anything else.

After walking for about 30 minutes, we reached the Cliff of the Gods – a place associated with a famous legend. Legend has it that in the past, when the Ma Pi Leng pass was not there, from the Nho Que river looked at this high cliff. At the top of the mountain is the abode of fairies who protect the plants and people around the area. On the mountain there was a precious medicinal plant, but it grew in a dangerous place, it is said that no one managed to climb up and pick it up because of the treacherous way up.

One day, at the foot of the mountain there lived a happy husband and wife, but unfortunately the wife was seriously ill. Hearing about the precious medicinal plant, the husband persisted despite the dangers of climbing the high rocky cliff on the Co Tien mountain to pick up and heal his wife. The brave husband brought hundreds and thousands of wooden stakes to the cliff to be climbed. Climbing and climbing, the husband finally reached the precious medicinal plant.

But strangely, when he took the precious medicinal plant and came down, the wooden stake also mysteriously disappeared. The husband obtained a valuable medicinal plant and saved his wife’s life. Since then, no one else has been able to see the precious medicinal plant and climb the cliff. Touched by the husband’s sincere heart for his wife, drops of water emerge from the precious medicinal plant, which people call “fairy tears” or “stone tears”.

After a long time, people moved, so there was a path leading to the foot of the White Cliff that led to the commune of Pai Lung (Meo Vac) and the district of Dong Van. This road is also the road of old, the Cat King often paced and stopped to rest.

My friend told me that every famous place will have a legend, maybe. Legends help explain the origins and names of places, making them more illusory, more mysterious, easier to remember.

We sat on God’s cliff to rest for a while admiring the view, if there weren’t many clouds, if it was clear, what a beautiful view. But even if it’s like this, it’s already very satisfying, not worth the effort to walk. Since there were still many destinations left, we decided to end the hike here, turning around.

From the cliff you can continue along the trails and steps until the end of the walking route – ending at the nearest village, the exit point will be in the middle of the pass, the passage between Ma Pi Leng Pass Stop and Panorama cafe. The walking route is 5 km long. Meaning, if you decide to go this whole route, then going and coming back is 10km, because like us you have to come back to get a motorbike. You’ll need to bring some snacks and drinks to gain the strength to conquer this unique walking route.
