“Hot” developments in the death of a 22-year-old single mother after rhinoplasty
According to information from the Hoang Mai District Police (Hanoi), at about 19:25 on January 16, 2022, Mr. PTD (43 years old, from Tan An city, Long An province) went to the Tuong Mai ward police station to report the incident. At about 6pm on January 14, Mr. received news that her daughter, PTDH (22 years old, temporarily residing in My Dinh 2 ward, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi) is being treated at Bach Mai Hospital.
Mr. D. heard about the incident that his daughter went to do plastic surgery to lift her nose at an unknown facility, leading to a coma and being taken to the emergency room.
Receiving information, Hoang Mai District Police coordinated with Hoang Mai District People’s Procuracy and Tuong Mai Ward Police to urgently conduct verification.
Initial investigation identified people present at the scene of the incident on January 14, including: Nguyen Sy Giang (27 years old, hometown Yen Thanh, Nghe An); Le Ngoc Anh (32 years old, residing in Long Bien district, Hanoi; an anesthesiologist at a hospital in Hanoi); Nguyen Thanh Binh (31 years old, residing in Dan Phuong district, Hanoi); Nguyen Thien Le (32 years old, hometown Luc Nam, Bac Giang);
Along with two people involved in the case are Tran The Anh (31 years old, residing in Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi) and Hoang Minh Phong (28 years old, residing in Ba Dinh district, Hanoi).
Investigation determined, through social relations, Giang knew Hoang Minh Phong and then followed Phong to learn plastic surgery.
Around February 2021, Phong invited Giang to work at his salon shop at 18C, Group 20, Tuong Mai ward, Hoang Mai district.
Although Giang knew that Phong did not have a license to practice plastic surgery, he still agreed to work with Phong.
After that, Giang went on social networks to post plastic surgery to find customers, if there are customers doing plastic surgery, Giang will report back to Phong to arrange the surgery room at Phong’s shop. Next, Giang directly conducts plastic surgery for customers.
Around May 2021, Ms. PTDH texted Giang about wanting to do rhinoplasty and sent a deposit many times.
In total, Ms. H. transferred to Giang 35 million VND. After that, Giang made an appointment on January 14, 2022 to conduct plastic surgery to lift the nose for Ms. H. at address 18C, group 20, Tuong Mai ward, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi.
On January 13, Giang informed Phong about Ms. H.’s case and told Phong to contact an anesthesiologist.
In the early afternoon of January 14, Ms. H. went to the “underground” cosmetic facility and was brought up by Giang to the 6th floor of the house for surgical procedures.
On March 16, the family of Ms. H. informed the Hoang Mai District Police that Ms. H. had died at Long An General Hospital.
On March 17, the Hoang Mai Police Investigation Agency coordinated with the Hoang Mai People’s Procuracy Institute and the Criminal Science Institute of the Ministry of Public Security to conduct forensic examination of H.’s body according to regulations.
