Krakow – a beautiful city in Poland that many of you may not know. The city center is recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage because of its antiquity that is still preserved to this day.

Krakow is not crowded, noisy. The feeling is very peaceful like the old cities in Eastern Europe. My family consists of 2 adults and 2 children traveling from Germany to here by train more than 5 hours.

We chose to stay at the Novotel Centrum, right on the river Weichsel. From here, it’s only a 5-10 minute walk to Wawel Castle and about a 20 minute walk to the city center. My family moves mainly on foot, about 5-7km every day. This city and hotel is very suitable for families with young children as well as young people.

The hotel has a warm water pool of 27 degrees Celsius, with a jacuzzi, so after breakfast the whole family went swimming for about 2 hours before going out to play. On the first day, we went to Wawel Castle to take pictures and wait to watch the beautiful sunset. Wawel is an ancient castle where the Polish kings lived, built in the 14th century. As soon as you set foot in the castle, visitors will easily be overwhelmed by the luxury and splendor inside.

Wake up in the morning and walk around to watch the sunrise on the Weichsel River

Early in the morning when my children and husband are sleeping, I get up early to watch the sunrise over the river because the sun rises from behind the castle. Not only me, many people took pictures and went jogging. Although a bit cold (-3 to -5 degrees Celsius in the early morning) but the air is fresh, the scenery is beautiful and peaceful.

After breakfast, swimming, gym, the whole family went back to the city to explore the old town of Krakow. There you can walk, you can ride a horse-drawn carriage to visit. The carriage is quite expensive, so it’s okay to pay half the price.

Krakow Old Town is known as the “medieval party” waiting for visitors to explore. Here stands out a large square named Rynek Glowny, established in 1257. This was once the largest medieval market in Central Europe. There are also ancient and noble buildings around, which have gone through many ups and downs in history and are still intact as they were in the beginning.

The city of Krakow has many museums. If you are interested in learning, you can visit. Two hours by car from Krakow is a prison for the ancient Judens. If you want to learn about history and war, you can come explore.

In terms of food, eating in Krakow is quite cheap compared to Germany and France. On the banks of the Weichsel there is a very interesting snack and drink bar. From the outside it looks nothing special. Fortunately that day, the whole family walked a lot by the riverside, tired feet, hungry, so thought to come here to eat quickly.

Stepping inside the new bar was a surprise. The shop is made entirely from natural wood, from the tables and chairs, the pillars, the door handles are all very unique. Decorate the inside with old antiques. The arrangement of the cups and bottles is also very unique. I was attracted, kept looking around and taking pictures of every corner of the shop. The owner is also very friendly.

My family thinks it’s fast to eat, so we just order Pommes, thinking that the serving size is as small as in Germany. I would have thought that a serving of Pommes here is twice as good as in Germany. The large pommes are also delicious. If you have the opportunity to come to Krakow, remember to visit the shop. The shop is located opposite the Novotel Centrum hotel, named Samoobsluga.

And another surprise, in the heart of Krakow city, my family came across a very impressive decorated Vietnamese restaurant. The space in the restaurant is reminiscent of the homeland, which is a light-rod blow, a conical hat, a cupboard in the old country kitchen containing bowls and chopsticks, hanging garlic and chili on both sides…
