However, things will change starting with the iPhone SE 3. AT&T or T-Mobile users won’t need to provide the aforementioned details or choose a network plan at the time of purchase. Instead, they will be allowed to bring their new phone home, enter data, and connect to a carrier once it’s turned on.

Apple’s website has adopted the new process, and stores will start following this process from March 29. This feature will also be extended to Verizon users in the future. The “Apple House” will also allow consumers to buy iPhone SE 3 at stores with Apple Card monthly installment plans without connecting the device to a carrier.

While this process is currently only for the iPhone SE, it will most likely also be used for the iPhone 14 series, which will be announced in September.

This is part of the effort of “Bad Apple” to reduce dependence on carriers. Apple and other phone makers have begun selling eSIM-compatible phones, making it easy for consumers to connect to their preferred carrier and switch to another if customers want to.
