World’s longest suspension bridge in Turkey
With a main span of more than 2,000 meters, it is the longest suspension bridge in the world.
The bridge connects a town located on the European side of Canakkale province in northwestern Turkey with a town on the Asian side.
The Turkish president said the bridge allows tourists to cross the Dardanelles in just six minutes, compared with the previous 1.5-hour ferry ride.
Canakkale Suspension Bridge 1915 is a project by Turkey combined with Korean companies, with an investment of $2.8 billion. This is the fourth bridge connecting the two banks in the Eurasian continent of Turkey, next to the three bridges in Istanbul.
