Instagram The Wimbledon official was one of the 514,000 accounts that liked Federer’s video. The 20 Grand Slam owner received more than 10,000 comments, with most congratulating him on his return to racket. Many fans expressed their desire to see Federer play at Wimbledon this year.

Information from the Swiss media indicates that the chances of Federer participating at Wimbledon are very slim. He needs at least three more months of training on the pitch, improving his fitness and feeling on the ball, before returning to the late summer tournament. Federer’s biggest goal this year is said to be the Laver Cup team tournament he founded, which takes place in September in London.

“Of course it takes a lot of time to get back into the game,” Federer said in an interview with SRF TV earlier this year. “I’ll probably be back in late summer or early fall. I have to go through three phases of recovery, including a period of walking and running. Only when I’m running well can I think about it,” he said. luckily my MRI was very positive.”

According to coach Severin Luthi who leads the Swiss Davis Cup team, Federer needs to undergo a comprehensive recovery period, from knees, leg muscles to muscle strength after a year off. The 40-year-old will train with fitness coach Pierre Pagnini to improve his fitness. Federer hasn’t played a match since Wimbledon 2021 – England tournament lost quarterfinals in the hands of Hubert Hurkacz.

“Roger’s muscle and physique has gone down a lot,” coach Paganini, who has worked with Roger Federer for two decades, told the German daily. Tags-Anzeiger last year. “Many muscles are out of balance. Knees have been a problem for him for years. After going through 1,500 career matches, some parts of Roger’s body need regeneration. It’s part of an athlete’s life. The positive thing for Roger is that his athletes are much younger than their 40s.”

Paganini has coached Federer since 2000, when the Swiss legend did not have a Grand Slam. The 64-year-old expert is responsible for planning and directing Federer about 160 days a year.
