Kaylea Titford passed away in October 2020.

Kaylea Titford died of health problems related to her weight. Her mother was the one who discovered her daughter dead in bed in October 2020.

Father Alun Titford, 44, and mother Sarah Lloyd-Jones, 39, have been charged with negligent manslaughter in the death of a child.

It is alleged that the couple failed to ensure Titford’s reasonable dietary needs between March 24 and October 11, 2020, causing her to become obese.

The charge also states that “they do not guarantee that their daughter can exercise, live in hygienic conditions, have a safe environment”.

Appearing in court, both wearing masks, confirmed their names, ages and current whereabouts. Prosecutors allowed the couple to be granted conditional bail but not to have contact with anyone under the age of 18.

They will continue to appear in court on April 14.

An earlier investigation revealed that Titford had multiple medical conditions and was unable to move. One of the causes of death was “inflammation and infection in large ulcerated areas due to obesity. It was a complication of a young girl with spina bifida and hydrocephalus,” the medical record reads.
