After successfully sending the message prepared according to the above syntax, the victim will lose control of the SIM, because then the fraudster’s SIM becomes the “original” SIM, all calls to the user’s subscribers make ie is forwarded to the subject’s phone number.

Scammers easily take over the victim’s social media accounts, bank accounts, e-wallets, etc. by logging in and selecting the forgot feature “Forgot password” because then the service provider will send an authentication code (OTP) to the phone SIM the subject is holding.

Finally, the fraudster will appropriate the victim’s money in the bank account, e-wallet or use the victim’s information to borrow money through online lending applications, leaving the victim in debt. a big amount of money.

VinaPhone operator recommends users to pay attention when the icon appears to be transferring unwanted calls.

This operator said, to minimize the damage caused by fraudsters, users need to be vigilant against fraudulent calls and instruct them to redirect calls; beware of scam calls, do not execute code **21*Phone# according to instructions from these calls.

When the phone shows abnormal signs such as not receiving an incoming call (there is a call forwarding icon next to the carrier logo), users need to immediately manipulate the command ##21# to cancel the unwanted call transfer order. at the same time, contact VinaPhone via the toll-free number 18001091 to check the subscriber’s status and get advice, answers or recommendations on how to handle it.

In addition to the “Transfer Calls” scam as above, according to VinaPhone, there are also some cases of fraud on replacing 4G SIMs for free.

Information to users about the replacement of 4G SIM embryos at the customer’s address, VinaPhone said that this network operator only offers to replace SIM for customers who are using old SIM embryos (2G/3G SIM embryos). To check the type of SIM card in use, the user composes an SMS with the content “DS4G” and sends it to 888 or press the USSD protocol with the command *0888#

For subscribers who are using 4G SIM blanks, VinaPhone does not invite other SIM replacements. VinaPhone staff will contact and come directly at the customer’s address: no remote SIM replacement via phone or any online form. After the VinaPhone staff has finished replacing the SIM, the customer re-verifies the subscription by making an outgoing/incoming call from the subscriber’s number to ensure smooth 2-way communication from his/her subscriber.

VinaPhone also recommends that in case the phone SIM is detected with abnormal signs such as: loss of signal, not receiving calls, messages … for unknown reasons, users need to quickly contact the network operator via the number.
