China pays tribute to the victims of the plane crash

Chinese officials held a memorial ceremony at the scene for the 132 unfortunate victims of flight MU5735 that crashed in the mountains of Guangxi.

The Chinese also expressed their condolences for the victims on social media. The memorial post by People’s Daily, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of China, on Weibo has received more than 466,000 comments.

“Despite knowing the results in advance, the final confirmation of the number of victims still breaks my heart,” one social media user commented.

“The whole country has been waiting for a miracle. May everyone on the flight be saved. Rest in peace,” another Weibo user shared. “Clouds will bring them home!”

Chinese officials also said on March 27 that 632 family members of the victims had been brought to the scene of the accident. A team of 70 psychologists has been deployed and consulted more than 1,200 times for relatives of passengers.

“What they need is understanding, companionship. They need to let their emotions out naturally,” said Doan Binh, head of the team of psychologists at the scene.

Plane number MU5735 crashed in the forest area of ​​Dang district on March 21. FlightRadar24 data shows that the plane plunged almost vertically while flying at an altitude of nearly 9,000 meters. The pilot seemed to have tried to save the plane in the last seconds, regaining altitude, but the plane still crashed to the ground at a speed of nearly 600 km / h.

Hu Zhejiang, deputy director general of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), said on March 26 that the identities of 114/123 passengers and 6/9 crew members had been identified by DNA testing. .

Chinese authorities have found both the plane’s black boxes and are in the process of decoding it, which could take weeks to months to analyze. Data from the two black boxes may provide additional clues, helping investigators determine the cause of the crash.
