For more than a year, Ms. Dung cried all her tears when she saw her only son having an accident and paralyzed his whole body

Nguyen Thanh Khanh Duy (SN 2003, living in Nhon Thanh commune, Ben Tre city) is the only son of Ms. Dung and her late husband. 7 years ago, after her husband died of lung cancer, after finishing grade 6, Duy also asked her mother to quit school to work part-time and earn money to cover her life.

With no other choice when she could not support the whole family alone, Ms. Dung accepted Duy’s leave from school. Thinking that the road ahead of the mother and daughter would be less precarious when, after several years of saving as a worker in Binh Duong, Ms. Dung also built a house to shelter from the rain and sun. Unexpectedly, in early 2021, on the way home from work, Duy had an accident that resulted in a broken cervical vertebrae, a spinal cord injury, and had to be taken to Cho Ray Hospital for emergency treatment in a cautious prognosis.

Despite being lucky to keep his life, Khanh Duy was paralyzed all over, could only lie in one place

“He came home from work at night when he fell from the car, the knitting road was too small, she came home from work to hear that her son was like that, she lost her limbs. By the time she saw her child, the doctor had to tell her to move to Cho Ray, but it was very heavy. At first, the doctor said that the operation could not be performed, the family brought the child home because it was difficult to recover… She cried and begged the doctor to keep her under observation.I was in the hospital for 2 months before the doctor dared to operate to pulled the cervical vertebrae. Luckily it survived.”Ms. Dung burst into tears.

Despite keeping Duy’s life, almost his whole body could not move. Out of money for treatment, Ms. Dung asked to take Duy back to Ben Tre for physical therapy. Less than 2 months, the Covid-19 epidemic broke out, Ben Tre Traditional Medicine Hospital was requisitioned as a field hospital, Duy was forced to go home to “wait”.

At that time, she was afraid that he would die, she would cry when she went to take care of the child, She cried until the operation was over, she had to buy glasses to wear because she couldn’t see the road. Because she couldn’t pay the hospital fees to practice therapy in Cho Ray, the mother and daughter asked to go back to their hometown, expecting an outbreak of the epidemic. I can’t go to practice in my hometown”Ms. Dung shared.

According to Ms. Dung, after having eaten Tet, thanks to the help of a relative plus the money she borrowed from the neighborhood, she decided to take Duy to the Hospital for Rehabilitation and Treatment of Occupational Diseases to look for opportunities. opportunity to live, the chance to recover for the child.

“I’ve been lying here for more than a month, mother and daughter have run out of money, I guess I have to take the baby back. Now the boy’s hands can move a little bit, she is also happy, hopeful…, but the circumstances My family is like that, there’s no way to save me”Ms. Dung choked.

The young man was in pain when, for more than a year, he “did not live as much as death…”

“It’s been a year, I don’t want to live anymore”

Lying on the hospital bed, Khanh Duy looked at his mother with wet eyes. For the past 13 months, I’ve lived in my own powerlessness when my whole body can’t move, all my activities, eating and drinking are taken care of by Ms. Dung.

“For the past year, I don’t want to live anymore, I’m lying in the same place, I’m so depressed. My father has passed away, I quit school to work as a helper to take care of my mother, but now I’m like this again, making her miserable. Because of me, sometimes I just want to die…”Duy burst into tears.

Charity bread, hospital rice porridge help Ms. Dung endure so her son can practice physical therapy

Because of the difficult situation, the money saved for several years by the mother and daughter has also paid for hospital fees and medicines, Duy doesn’t know how much longer he can hold out. Looking at the mother’s eyes blurred every day because she cried for her child, Duy couldn’t hold it anymore.

“I’m lying here, I feel very useless. For the past year, I have only been able to lie and lie down, my limbs have atrophied, I can only feel it from the neck up. A few months off the epidemic, I also look forward to going back to work. I went back to the hospital but didn’t have any money, fortunately a relative saved me 20 million, so I could come back here for treatment. Now that the money’s gone, I’ll just go back and wait…”Duy rabbit card.

Having managed enough, Ms. Dung couldn’t resist anymore to pay hospital fees for Duy…

According to Duy’s share, after more than a month of returning to the hospital for treatment, his hands have gradually regained feeling. Although I can’t hold it like a normal person, my progress has given me more hope.

“Now every day I do physical therapy, practice sitting in a wheelchair, but can’t walk. Fortunately, my sores have healed, but after being infected with Covid-19, I often faint when exercising.” , Duy confided.

Holding Duy’s hands, Ms. Dung had tears in her eyes when she said that she could no longer afford to continue with her son to continue the journey ahead. Out of money, mother and daughter had to return home…

“She just prayed for him to be able to sit in a wheelchair, take care of himself so that she could work and earn a living. As a mother, who doesn’t want her child to walk normally, but that’s how it is, you have to accept it. How can I leave my child?

For the past year, her family has lived on the love of neighbors and relatives, so I can’t live forever. Many times she despaired, she just wanted to die, but when she died, who would take care of it. It’s only 19 years old this year…”Ms. Dung burst into tears.

Perhaps, Ms. Dung’s biggest wish is for Duy to have the opportunity to continue doing physical therapy. If she can’t walk, she just wants her son to be able to sit in a wheelchair and take care of himself. myself.

In the hospital room, mother and daughter burst into tears. Running out of money, they must go back…
