Mr. Tran Hong Thai, Director of the General Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment), said that this is an unusual rain, exceeding the record for many years (when comparing the rains in March).

Therefore, localities must operate reservoirs flexibly, both to ensure safety and to store water for the dry season.

The meteorological agency forecast that, due to the strong influence of cold air, this day and night (April 2), in the area from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai, there will continue to be moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places. thunderstorms with a common rainfall of 30-80mm, over 120mm in some places. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds. Risk of flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas and local flooding in low-lying, low-lying areas, along rivers.

The Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control reported that on April 2, an unusual flood caused 2 deaths (Phu Yen 1, Quang Nam 1); 1 person is missing in Phu Yen; 4 people were injured by thunderstorms in Thua Thien Hue.

Regarding housing, 2 houses collapsed (Phu Yen), 38 houses lost their roofs and were damaged. In addition, 261 boats and boats were sunk or damaged; 2,480 lobster cages damaged; 200ha of aquaculture affected.

Flooding also caused 54,430 hectares of rice to be flooded and dumped; 7,114 hectares of flooded crops; 6 landslides caused traffic jams.

At the recent Steering Committee meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh directed, localities must mobilize all forces to support people to overcome and reduce damage to a minimum.
