Drift cake, vegetarian cake – an indispensable flavor of the Vietnamese traditional Korean New Year

Therefore, Vietnamese families pay a lot of attention to this day.

For busy people, they can buy floating cakes at the store. This year, the price of cakes has not increased, ranging from 10,000 – 15,000 VND / plate of floating cakes, while vegetarian cakes are 15,000 – 20,000 VND / bowl of 3 cakes.

At familiar and famous cake shops in Hanoi, people still line up to get a plate of cake they like.

How to make vegetarian pancakes

Part 1: Prepare the ingredients

– Glutinous flour for making floating cakes: 500g

– Peeled green beans: 100g

– Grated coconut: 100g – Vanilla: 1 tube – Tapioca flour: 2 tablespoons – Refined sugar – White sugar: 150g

Part 2: How to make floating cake, vegetarian cake

Step 1: Because it is a ready-made flour to make floating cakes and vegetarian cakes, we put the dough into a large bowl, slowly add hot water to mix the dough. When you see the dough is flexible and smooth, press it without sticking your hands. Let the dough rest for 15 minutes.

Step 2: Wash green beans, soak in warm water for about 1 hour to bloom (soak the beans before kneading the dough), then put them in a rice cooker and pour over the surface of the cooking water like cooking rice until beans are cooked.

Step 3: When the green beans are cooked, use a blender, puree and then put the beans in a non-stick pan and stir with 50g of sugar. Sugar and beans are finely mixed, then add shredded coconut, stir well, add a little vanilla, then turn off the heat.

Step 4: Let the green beans cool down, then roll them into round balls with your thumb, and place them on a plate to make a filling for the vegetarian cake.

Step 5: The fenugreek is diced to make the filling for the floating cake.

Step 6: After the ingredients are fully prepared, we proceed to mold the cake.

Making floating cakes: Roll the dough into small bite-sized balls. Press flat in the middle of the dough ball and then add the diced granulated sugar on top. Cover the dough ball and round it to seal the dough ball, avoid kneading too much, the cake may break when boiling.

Step 7: Put the pot of water on the stove to boil, drop the molded floating cake in and boil until the cake floats and is cooked. Take the cake out and drop it right into a bowl of cold water to prevent the cakes from sticking together. Vegetarian cakes also do the same.

Put the cake on a plate, decant all the standing water on the plate and then use your fingertips to dip the toasted sesame seeds on the surface of the cake and you’re done.
