On April 3, a representative of the National Burn Institute said that four victims of severe burns in a fire at a motel in Phu Do (Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi) were transferred for treatment on the night of March 31.
Among them, Mr. NMD, 30 years old, suffered the most with a large burn area (35%), had respiratory burns, so he had to maintain mechanical ventilation to support breathing during the injury period.
“This airway burn increases the risk of death and severe prognosis,” the representative said, adding that the young man maintained mechanical ventilation, sedation, and active treatment. If the next time the respiratory burn improves, doctors will remove the ventilator, then surgically remove the deep necrotic lesions and graft the patient’s skin.

In addition, the 2-year-old patient suffered 22% burns, the wounds were superficial burns, his health has improved, breathing is good. Doctors predict that the patient will gradually improve after a period of treatment.
The remaining patients all had mild burns, in which the 4-year-old had only 5% burns on both hands and was superficial, in good health.
The scene of the fire at the motel in Phu Do caused a tragic death of a young girl
Before that, at about 7pm on March 31, the fire started in a 7-storey motel in Phu Do ward, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi. The fire area is the 1st floor garage, concrete structure, reinforcement, floor area about 170m2.
The fire killed a 25-year-old girl, injured 5 people (including 4 children) and 7 others were instructed to escape safely.
Nam Tu Liem district police arrested Tran Thi Thanh Hai, 29 years old, a worker. At the police station, Hai said that because he was angry with his boyfriend, he bought gasoline to burn the motorbike of his boyfriend’s family.
On the evening of March 31, 8 victims in turn went to Hong Ngoc General Hospital for emergency, in which 4 people with severe burns after initial treatment were transferred to the National Institute of Burns. The remaining 4 people with minor burns, stable health, went home in the night.
