According to the IOM, as of mid-March, nearly 6.48 million people are believed to have been evacuated within the country, bringing the total number of people displaced from their homes due to the pandemic. Earlier, on April 2, Russia and Ukraine made an announcement about the peace process, after direct talks between the two countries in Istanbul, Turkey took place on March 29. After about four hours of negotiations, the Russian negotiating team returned to Moscow on the evening of March 29, bringing Ukraine’s written proposal for a “peace agreement” between the two sides.
