Ginger prices dropped dramatically, the commune’s chairman wrote a letter “calling for help” to help farmers

On April 7, the Farmers’ Association of Ky Son district (Nghe An) said that the district still has about 4,500 tons of specialty ginger that has not been sold yet. There is a risk that this amount of ginger will sprout, spoil and affect the quality.

The reason for not being able to sell ginger is that this year’s ginger is a good season, but the price has dropped dramatically.

Accordingly, Ky Son district has nearly 800 hectares of ginger, concentrated in communes such as Na Ngoi, Tay Son, Dooc May, Nam Can, Huoi Tu, Keng Du and Pha Danh. These communes are located in remote areas. The weather is cool and cloudy all year round, which is very suitable for growing ginger and growing well. In 2022, the output of ginger in Ky Son district will reach 5,200 tons.

If every year, the price of ginger reaches from 20,000 VND to 30,000 VND, this year, the price of ginger will decrease to only 5,000 to 6,000 VND / 1 kg.
