87% of young people in the US prefer iPhones over Android phones

According to a semi-annual Piper Sandler poll, 9 out of 10 US teens own an iPhone and don’t plan to switch to an Android device in the near future. The poll of more than 7,100 American teenagers showed a surprising support of Generation Z for Apple smartphones.

The survey found that Apple’s best iPhones are so popular among American teenagers that there is no difference between the percentage who own and the rate that are ready to buy an iPhone in the near future (87% and 87%, respectively). ). Essentially, this means that American teenagers can’t seem to get out of the Apple ecosystem.

The results of the poll also show that American teenagers watch 30% of the videos they watch each day on Netflix and 30% on YouTube. For the first time, TikTok overtook Snapchat to become the most popular social network, capturing 33% of the market share. Facebook ranked third with 22% market share, ranked above Twitter and Instagram.

Since so many teenagers use iPhones, it’s no surprise that Apple Pay has become the most popular payment app. Meanwhile, although 26% of teens said they own a VR device, only 5% of them admit to using it every day. More importantly, 48% of teenagers are uncertain or uninterested in the Metaverse, or virtual universe.
