The man almost lost his “vagina” because of this subjectivity when cleaning the private area – Life Health

This man almost lost part of his penis due to hairy tourniquet syndrome.

Experts say this man’s case is very rare. They also give warnings about men should clean under the foreskin regularly, or else may get the same condition as this man.

It is known that this unnamed man from Geelong, Victoria, USA suffered from pain for 2 weeks before seeking help from a doctor. He was transferred to the emergency department of Geelong University Hospital, after taking medicine from a private doctor but to no avail.

Before that, he was diagnosed with swelling of the foreskin. However, after an examination, doctors at Geelong University Hospital confirmed the patient’s previous doctor had not noticed the problem below the foreskin, making the condition worse.

Doctors said that the patient was admitted to the hospital in a state of anxiety, depression, signs of type 2 diabetes, increased blood pressure. After examining under the patient’s foreskin, the doctor discovered that there was a lot of pubic hair wrapped around, squeezing the tip of the penis.

Over time, the trapped hairs “glued together to form a very tight ring”. The doctor guessed that it took a very long time for this to happen, it is not clear how long this man had to endure the pain.

This man’s condition is known as hair tourniquet syndrome. This is a condition in which a hair, thread, or thread wraps tightly around the fingers, toes, or genitals. Usually, it occurs in children and can cut off the blood supply. In some cases surgery will be required, sometimes amputation of the limbs.

Dr. Angela Holmes and urologists at the hospital cut the hair that was tightly wrapped around this man’s penis immediately. However, the patient required surgery to save the remaining tissue.

Unexpectedly, after hearing about the risks of the surgery, including losing part of his penis if the wound didn’t heal completely, the man ran away. However, two days later, he returned to the hospital after doctors tried to contact him.

He was taken to the operating room, where doctors cleaned the wound in his urethra and attached a fixed catheter so he could urinate. He was discharged after 1 day. Doctors advised to clean with salt water daily, take antibiotics and apply medicine to the wound.

Two weeks after the surgery, he returned after the stitches were on the young skin. The doctors performed the surgery again, removed the damaged tissue, and inserted another catheter directly into the bladder. Doctors also circumcised him.

Two months later, he returned for a follow-up visit, the wound was almost completely healed. Although under his foreskin was deformed, the urethra was healed, he was able to urinate on his own and did not need further surgery.

Dr Rich Viney, a urologist at the University of Birmingham Hospital, US told MailOnline: “This is an interesting but very rare condition. Delay in treatment will aggravate the condition, blood can flow into the penis but not out. This can easily cause swelling, damage to the urethra, making the spasm worse.”

He added: “In fact, patients can avoid this condition with proper penile hygiene, washing under the foreskin regularly.”

According to a survey of 1,100 by The Derm Review, only 21.6% of men wash their penis every few days or even less.
