This female patient shared, before going to the doctor, she saw some symptoms of epigastric pain for a long time, but subjectively thought it was just a minor illness, even when she had nausea, this patient still thought that it was due to eating food. unsuitable.

Only when she saw rapid weight loss, the young girl went to the hospital for a checkup. Here, through the endoscopy results, it was discovered that the stomach had ulcerative tumors, infiltrating the stomach antrum, the doctors suspected cancer. After that, the patient was given a biopsy, the results confirmed that the patient had ring cell carcinoma of the stomach.

Patients who were scanned for further evaluation were found to have liver metastases, multifocal peritoneal metastases, that is, at a late stage. Receiving this result, the 29-year-old girl was shocked because she was so young, the future was considered over. In fact, after a short time of treatment, the patient died.

Assoc. Prof. Cam Phuong said that after seeing that her sister (the 29-year-old female patient above) had cancer, her brother went to the doctor and was also found to have stomach cancer. Fortunately, this male patient detected the disease at an early stage, so the treatment results were better. Currently, the male patient is still undergoing treatment and has regular follow-up visits according to the doctor’s appointment.

Associate Professor Pham Cam Phuong said that if detected early, stomach cancer can be completely cured.

Associate Professor Phuong said that stomach cancer can be detected early through gastroscopy. The early symptoms people need to pay attention to are: The feeling of fullness in the abdomen, the area above the navel. Some people have symptoms of belching, heartburn like a stomach ulcer, so it is difficult to know which condition is cancer or a common stomach ulcer. Therefore, gastric endoscopy is necessary to detect the disease early.

“When you have the above symptoms, go to the doctor. The doctor will conduct endoscopy to detect ulcerative lesions, hard infiltrates. If at an early stage, the patient has a raised condition of the mucosa, then the doctor will biopsy the lesion to determine. If detected early, the treatment will be effective, the disease can be completely cured.

When it is in the late stage, the patient has swollen lymph nodes in the neck, enlarged abdomen, weight loss, vomiting… Some patients have vomiting blood, vomiting continuously, vomiting old food, passing black stools. When detected at a late stage, it will be difficult to treat, and the life span will not be long,” said Associate Professor Cam Phuong.
