Stop testing for COVID-19 for tourists – a new push for Thailand’s tourism industry

This new regulation is considered a new push for the industry travel to Thailand regain its position as one of the world’s top tourist destinations, with a target of more than $44 billion in revenue this year.

According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, immigration policy Newly applied from May 1, this country will help the country attract about 10 million international tourists this year, excluding the Chinese market.

The reason is that easier travel will help tourists save more money and this is also a decisive factor in convincing potential tourists to choose to travel to Thailand over other destinations. This could help Thailand regain its tourism competitiveness after losing its top spot to other countries that have adopted relaxed entry rules.

In order to support the recovery of the tourism industry, Thailand is considering the possibility of implementing the “Two Countries, One Destination” project to promote tourism between Thailand and other countries. In addition, the country also extended the domestic tourism stimulus program called “Travel together” to maintain a positive momentum for the tourism industry during the low season.

Also from May 1, travelers who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 but have negative PCR test results for SARS-CoV-2 virus will not need to be tested again when entering Thailand. Meanwhile, visitors who do not have a certificate of examination will have to isolate for 5 days at state-designated centers.

Statistics show that, in the first quarter of 2022, Thailand welcomed about 500,000 international tourists.
