Apple issues an “ultimatum” to many app developers on the App Store-Information Technology

Many app developers on the App Store have shared Apple’s announcement regarding the released app.

According to Engadget, in 2016 Apple announced it would get rid of apps that stopped working, didn’t keep up with new standards, or became obsolete. Recently, some of the developers continued to share emails showing notifications from Appleprompting them to update their apps.

“This app has not been updated for a significant period of time and is expected to be removed from the store after 30 days. You can make this app available to new users to discover and download from the App Store by submitting an update for our review.”extract the email notification Apple sent to application developers.

Apple notes that developers can continue to earn revenue from small transactions even if the company removes certain apps or games from the store. Furthermore, those programs will continue to work for those who downloaded them to the device. Some have expressed concern the policy is unfair to retail developers.

On a support page dedicated to its App Store Improvements initiative, Apple states the policy is designed to make it easier for customers to find great apps that fit their needs. The company also notes that it wants to ensure all software found on the platform is “fully functional and up-to-date”.
