Selling burgers that are far from advertised, Burger King sued

Fast-food chain Burger King has been sued by a group of customers, alleging that the company’s promotional photos make the food look more like what it was actually served.

A South Florida attorney representing plaintiffs filed a lawsuit against the fast-food chain for misleading customers by misrepresenting the size of burgers in advertising images by making them look bigger.

In the lawsuit, Anthony Russo, one of the plaintiffs, said that Burger King’s promotional photos show “The large pieces of meat and the ingredients that spilled over the outside of the bun made the burger about 35% larger and contained more than twice as much meat as it actually was. ”

The lawsuit even provides social media posts from disgruntled customers for the same reason.

The lawsuit claims the fast food chain started “exaggerated burger size” In the photos circa September 2017. Before that, according to the lawsuit, Burger King advertised its products more realistically.

The lawsuit specifically addresses images promoting the chain’s favorite Whopper, as well as the Impossible Burger, Big King, Bacon Double Cheeseburger and others.

This is not the first time Burger King has been accused of exaggerating the food in its ads. 12 years ago, the UK’s Advertising Regulatory Authority said the company’s burger was “significantly smaller” in height and thickness than what was advertised.

The plaintiffs are seeking monetary damages to all customers who were “deceived” by Burger King. They also asked Burger King to stop selling “advertised menu items” or modify the ad to be more precise.
