Security Council adopts first declaration on Ukraine

In the statement, the Security Council expressed deep concern about the maintenance of peace and security in Ukraine, and urged all parties to seek a peaceful solution.

The Security Council also reiterated the view that UN member states have an obligation to settle international disputes by peaceful means in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.

The Security Council expressed support for UN Secretary-General Guterres’ efforts to find a peaceful solution to the current war, and asked the UN Secretary-General to submit a specific report to the Security Council after declaration passed.

This is the first statement showing the consensus of the Security Council on Ukraine since the conflict broke out.
