“My daughter is working in a bank with her husband, not going to sing anymore”

Recently, the program “Street Stories” was broadcast with the appearance of singer Tuan Canh (the biological father of Xuan Mai). At the beginning of the program, musician Chung Tu Luu (the teacher of singer Quang Le) introduced:

“Everyone knows, now singer Tuan Canh has a very good pho restaurant in the US, including the famous chicken noodle soup. Those who come to the US remember to visit Tuan Canh’s pho restaurant, it’s not delicious, don’t take money.

In addition to pho, Tuan Canh also sells banh chung. I remember every Tet holiday, Tuan Canh sold very expensive banh chung, bought dozens of gold trees.

Tuan Canh is a close brother to me for decades. In the past, Tuan Canh and his daughter Xuan Mai also went to singing lessons with me. More than thirty years ago, Tuan Canh often sang with me.

Since that day, Tuan Canh has cooked pho very well. Tuan Canh often cooks pho at home for us to eat, delicious. At work, Tuan Canh is also a very good singer.

Tuan Canh’s son is Xuan Mai, who still dominates the children’s music market. Over here, families with young children who want to teach their children Vietnamese often play Xuan Mai tapes for their children to listen to. Every child knows Xuan Mai.”

Tuan Canh heard that and immediately confided: “People keep saying that I have a successful business, but it was difficult at first. Working as a restaurant is very hard, there is no job as hard as working in a restaurant or cooking food.

I chose the pho business because when I came to the US, I didn’t have any other jobs. Besides, I also love to eat, and making pho is a family heirloom. In the past, my family in Vietnam also sold pho.

So until now, I still stand in the kitchen to cook pho for guests, not just managing like others, so it’s hard work.”

Next, Tuan Canh revealed the current situation of Xuan Mai’s daughter: “My daughter is currently working in a bank with her husband in Ohio state, no longer singing. Xuan Mai now has 3 children.

Xuan Mai and her children still call me from time to time to talk to me. My grandchildren speak Vietnamese very well even though they were born in the US.”
