40 million people can use their citizen IDs with chips instead of health insurance cards

Up to now, Social Insurance has shared about 40 million times of citizen information contained in the insurance database with the national population database to verify and develop technical solutions to ensure the investigation of the insurance policy. Search information about health insurance card through citizen identification card (CCCD) with chip. Accordingly, the health insurance card information of many people has been integrated in the CCCD data.

According to Vietnam Social Security, with this data synchronization, 40 million people participating in health insurance can use CCCD or CCCD with chip in medical examination and treatment (KCB). Currently, there are more than 12,000 health care facilities nationwide that have updated their software and accept CCCD in health care insurance without the need for patients to present their health insurance cards. When people come for medical examination, hospital staff will check CCCD (scan QR code or VNEID app).

If the patient already has valid information about participating in health insurance, the staff will check, compare and receive them according to the current medical examination and treatment process with health insurance; at the same time, inform them for medical examination and treatment with health insurance from the next time by CCCD with chip. In case the patient does not have valid information about participating in health insurance or does not have a CCCD, the staff will explain to them that the health insurance card status on the CCCD has not been implemented and receive them according to the current medical examination and treatment process with health insurance.
