The highest tuition fee for international schools in Ho Chi Minh City is more than 750 million VND

Ho Chi Minh City has more than 20 schools that teach bilingual programs or programs of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, commonly known as international schools. Currently, these schools are planning to enroll students for the new school year.

In addition to the curriculum, tuition fees are information that many parents are interested in. This is the largest amount, accounting for 70-80% of the cost of studying at international schools.

This year, the tuition fee of most international schools increased by 15-40 million/year compared to the previous year, only some fields remain the same. For schools that have announced enrollment, preschool tuition is at an average of 100-300 million VND/year; primary school 150-500 million VND/year; high school 200-700 million dong.

Usually, tuition is paid annually or divided into 2-4 installments. Schools often offer 5-10% discount for the second child in the family to attend the school.

Below is the tuition fee for the international program for the academic year 2022-2023 announced by the schools, rounded to millions of dong (the “-” sign is the level of study not included in the training program).

Depending on the school, the above tuition fee may include one of the following items: textbooks, stationery, uniforms, insurance, extracurricular activities, after-hours care.

The admission process to international schools usually goes through many steps: consultation, registration, entrance test, admission; Each step usually comes with different fees.

The enrollment registration fee ranges from 1 to 5 million, to be paid when parents submit an enrollment application. This fee is usually non-refundable.

The reservation fee (or deposit fee, admission fee) is usually 20-50 million VND, paid to keep the student’s place. This is a one-time payment, which can be refunded if the parents notify the school to stop before the deadline set by the school.

Entrance test fee is 1-5 million VND, to be paid once before students take the ability test.

Facility fee 8-10 million dong, paid annually, applies to all students and is non-refundable in all cases.

After attending school, depending on the needs of learning, living, eating, parents will pay different fees for meals and transportation. Food costs range from 15-40 million VND, depending on the level of education and the number of meals. Transportation fee is usually at 20-35 million VND/year.

In addition, if uniforms, extra-curricular living expenses, textbooks… are not included in the tuition fee, parents have to spend another 10-20 million/year, depending on the school.

Ho Chi Minh City has more than 2,300 schools, of which about 1,300 are public schools, more than 1,000 are non-public.

In the non-public sector, there are about 900 preschools, more than 100 inter-schools, teaching from primary to high school under the general education program and more than 20 international schools.

The total tuition fee, part-boarding fee or boarding fee for non-public schools is at 3-10 million VND/month, depending on the level of study. Including other fees, on average, each parent pays about 30-100 million VND for a 9-month school year.
