The once-popular game Fall Guys is about to be free to play, but the PC version will only be available on the Epic Store
Last year, Epic Games acquired Mediatonic, the developer behind the Fall Guys game that created a rare craze. Despite being owned by Epic, Fall Guys is still sold on other platforms. Things will soon be different according to a recent statement by developer Mediatonic.
On June 21, Fall Guys will officially be free on all platforms, including PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. All gamer progress will be kept across platforms, as long as players log in to their Epic account.
However, Fall Guys will be officially removed from Steam, released exclusively on Epic’s game store. This move does not surprise the community, as Epic used to apply a similar model to the Rocket League game, after they acquired developer Psyonix. Steam version players also don’t have to worry, as the game will still receive all future updates.
For gamers who purchased the game before June 21, when Fall Guys officially becomes a free-to-play game, they will receive a legacy gift set, including nicknames, nametags, costumes and more and more. Gamers will need to turn on the game before June 21 to receive this Legacy Pack.
