According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Khanh (Chairman of the Discovery Swimming Club), from May 6, the group has installed 100 lifebuoys through the provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, and Hanoi, up to now. About 50 lifebuoys were lost.
In Hanoi, the group has installed 33 lifebuoys, now there are only a few remaining at Long Bien and Thanh Tri bridges. “After 4 days of installation I received many messages saying lifebuoy was lost; especially on Vinh Tuy and Chuong Duong bridges,” Khanh said.

Khanh said that the installation of lifebuoys on bridges is to provide tools for those who drown or who, due to life pressures, choose to throw themselves into the river to have a chance to survive. Therefore, he very much wants people to support it, join hands to protect it and not take it away.
“We predicted in advance, so we printed the words “lifebuoy, don’t take” but this situation still happens. Actually each lifebuoy costs only 100,000 VND, the value is not great, but the meaning of it’s very humane in saving drowning people. We will continue to add more lost points in the future. But this can’t last, the team can only add it a few times, because the group’s funding is limited. “, Khanh shared.

After nearly half a month of implementing the program, many people who know it through social networks have commented in support, praising the volunteer group’s activities and hope that these buoys are protected and not stolen.
At the scene, many people also found this to be a meaningful job. Mr. Nguyen Van Thong, a worker repairing Long Bien bridge, of Ha Hai Railway Joint Stock Company, said: “This is a very good job, I hope everyone has a sense of preservation”.
