Honoring Vietnam’s leading intellectuals in science and technology

According to information from the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, this unit will hold a ceremony to honor outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals in 2022.

The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations is a socio-political organization of a contingent of Vietnamese science and technology (S&T) intellectuals.

Since 2015, the Vietnam Union of Associations has organized to honor outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals every two years. After three deployments, this event has actively contributed to intellectual mobilization and promotion of science and technology creation.

The organization of a ceremony honoring intellectuals science and technology also contributed to raising the awareness of the whole society about the position and role of Vietnamese intellectuals.

Those selected to honor are intellectuals working in institutes, centers, research institutions, universities, enterprises or agencies of industries, fields, localities or in the Union of Science and Technology Union systems. Vietnam Association of Science and Technology for 10 years or more.

Those are individuals with scientific prestige, many practical, effective and influential contributions to the development of the industry, recognized by society.

According to Mr. Pham Huu Due – Head of the Association’s Organization and Policy Committee (Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations), the objects of the honoring ceremony are Vietnamese scientists who have contributed to the gathering and delegation of Vietnamese scientists. Vietnamese intellectuals, regardless of whether they are members of the Union or not.

Among 106 intellectuals honored in this round, there are 50 intellectuals nominated by local unions, 40 intellectuals nominated by national industry associations, and 16 nominated by the Selection Council.

According to the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, among the honored scientists, 68 people have academic titles and degrees from associate professor, doctorate or higher, 20 people have master’s degrees, 18 people have master’s degrees. hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Notably, in this list, there are 2 Labor Heroes.

The average age of the 106 honored science and technology intellectuals is 63 years old. The two oldest intellectuals honored were GS.TS.BS. Hoang Bao Chau (born in 1929, 93 years old) – former Vice President of Vietnam General Medical Association and Prof. Dr. Le Xuan Tung (SN 1936, 86 years old) – former Politburo member, former Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.
