200 dishes from lotus receive “double” record in Vietnam and the world

From rice, porridge, soup to salad, mix, stir-fry, fry, bake or tea,… 200 dishes from medium lotus are prepared for the first time in Dong Thap province.

As the locality that processes and performs the most dishes from lotus in the world with 200 dishes about lotus, Dong Thap province has just been set a record by the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) and the World Records Union. WorldKings set a world record.

Accordingly, 200 dishes from lotus were made in consultation with a panel of experts – artisans on culinary culture from the Center for Research, Conservation and Development of Vietnamese Cuisine, the Head Association of Vietnam. Saigon Professional Kitchen aims to ensure the quality and presentation of dishes at the festival.

Some dishes in the list of 200 dishes from lotus have just set Vietnamese and world records.

200 lotus dishes are prepared and performed by a team of 50 chefs divided into 10 teams with a variety of ingredients. All dishes have main ingredients from lotus such as lotus root, lotus root, lotus seed, lotus leaf, lotus heart, etc. After processing, 200 dishes are arranged in turn on the model of a 10-petal lotus flower. spreading 5.2m wide, alternating 5 petals 80cm high and 5 petals 65cm, pistil has a diameter of 2m.

The dishes from lotus are not only delicious and nutritious but also beautifully decorated.

The dishes show the richness in the combination of lotus and other ingredients, along with the diverse creativity in the cooking methods of the chef. Specifically, dishes from lotus are made in groups:

Dong Thap is known as the Land of Pink Lotus. According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Thap province, the whole province currently has about 600 hectares of lotus cultivation, most of which are concentrated in Thap Muoi, Cao Lanh, and Tam Nong districts.

Lotus products are strongly promoted in the fields of tourism, agriculture and bring high economic efficiency. In the program of one product per commune/ward in Dong Thap province, lotus products account for quite a large number with more than 220 products of all kinds.
