Making sausage rolls with bread

With just seasonings, ground pork and bacon, you can easily complete a nutritious sausage patty that you can enjoy in a meal. The finished product is easy to store in the freezer.

Finished product: 16 sausage rolls

Material:

  • A teaspoon of chopped fresh sage leaves
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
  • A teaspoon of crushed cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian chili flakes
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Kosher salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • 700g ground pork
  • 3 slices bacon (uncooked), diced
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • One tablespoon canola oil

Making:

Step 1:

  • In a small bowl, add sage, thyme, cumin seeds, Italian paprika, nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper and mix well.

Step 2:

  • In a large bowl, combine the pork, bacon, maple syrup and the mixture made in step 1, being careful not to over-mix.

Step 3:

  • Ladle each patch of seasoned pork mixture (in step 2) and roll flat to form bite-sized patties.
  • Heat canola oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the sausage rolls to the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Serve hot dogs with sandwiches, omelets, sauces, vegetables, sweet and sour depending on your preference for a complete breakfast.

Note

  • Uncooked sausage pieces can be stored in plastic wrap and frozen for up to one month.
  • When taking out to process, do not defrost sausage rolls. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently for about 10 minutes, until golden brown.
