Vietnam’s iPhone import turnover in 2021 reaches unbelievable numbers

According to the list of phone manufacturers’ import turnover, ASUS phones have the highest growth in import turnover in 2021, up 200.88% compared to 2020. However, in terms of price absolute value is less than 2 million USD.

The second place in terms of growth in phone import turnover in 2021 belongs to iPhone, up to 159.58%. It is worth mentioning that the absolute value of iPhone import turnover is very high and ranks first, with more than 1.234 billion USD, accounting for 39% of the total import turnover of phones into Vietnam in 2021.

As can be seen, the official data from the regulatory agency has negated the estimates from the retail chains a few years ago that the total market of Apple products imported into Vietnam both officially and officially. about 1 billion USD a year, in which besides the iPhone, there are also iMac, Macbook, iPad and many other Apple accessories.

It should be known that Apple’s computer products in 2021 are also in short supply in the Vietnamese market, especially the new generation Macbook Air lines equipped with the new M1 chip and M1 chip.

As far as the phone market is concerned, there are two criteria that need to be clearly distinguished.

The first criterion is about the market share, the number of devices (Units), often mentioned by market research firms for ranking. Accordingly, Samsung has always ranked at the No. 1 market share in terms of the number of devices sold over the years.

However, through the import turnover of 2021 announced by the Import-Export Department, the import turnover of Samsung phones reached more than US$863 million, only about 70% of that of the iPhone. It shows that Vietnamese people still spend the most money to buy and use iPhone, even though the number of iPhones may be less than that of Samsung.

Even in many quarterly phone market research rankings in Vietnam, in terms of the number of devices consumed, the iPhone is behind even Xiaomi phones or was once ranked below Huawei (then it was ranked second). 3rd).

One of the factors promoting the sharp increase in the official import turnover of iPhones to Vietnam is that Apple has constantly expanded its official authorized dealer system (Apple Authorized Reseller – AAR) to “kill” portable iPhones. thereby helping the market share of genuine imported iPhones increase sharply compared to before.

And when the official import of iPhone increases, it is also clearly reflected in the data of state management agencies.

According to a market research data, the average selling price of iPhone is usually three times higher than the average selling price of Samsung and Oppo in Vietnam market.

Thus, it is difficult to expect a true cheap iPhone to be sold on the market.
