Shanghai city reopens after 2 months of blockade

When the clock strikes midnight, entering June 1, many people open champagne to celebrate. Police forces were deployed to keep an eye on people not to congregate.

The Shanghai city government announced that all bus, subway and railway lines will resume on June 1. Many people bought train tickets to wait out of the city.

Schools are partially reopened on a voluntary basis. Supermarkets, trade centers, pharmacies will reopen gradually at 75% capacity. Movie theaters and gyms are still closed.

However, more than half a million people in Shanghai still have not been able to leave their homes on June 1 because there are still some areas left blockage or they live in a place where the case was recently discovered.

Shanghai recorded 29 new COVID-19 cases on May 30, continuing a sharp decline since more than 20,000 new infections were detected every day in April.
