After more than a month of adjournment of the trial because a subordinate of Mr. Tat Thanh Cang was infected with Covid-19, the trial of the former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and his accomplices continued to reopen from June 6. .

After more than a month of postponement, on June 6, the High People’s Court in Ho Chi Minh City reopened an appellate trial with former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang and accomplices according to the appeal of Mr. 10 defendants and the appeal of SADECO Company (SADECO is a subsidiary of Tan Thuan Industrial Development One Member Company Limited).

Previously, on May 5, the day during the procedure, defendant Nguyen Truong Bao Khanh (former member of the IPC Board of Directors) filed an application to postpone the trial due to being infected with Covid-19. In addition, Nguyen Kim Company was absent (Nguyen Kim is the unit involved in the appeal of Tan Thuan Construction Company Limited – IPC), so after consulting, the jury decided to postpone the trial to ensure benefits for defendant Khanh and related individuals and collectives.

At the first instance session, Mr. Tat Thanh Cang was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City for “violating regulations on management and use of State assets, causing loss and waste”.

Defendant Te Tri Dung (former General Director of Tan Thuan Industrial Development Company Limited – IPC) was sentenced to 11 years in prison for the crime of “violating regulations on management and use of state assets, causing losses and wastefulness.” fee”; 9 years in prison for the crime of “Embezzlement of property”. The total penalty for both crimes is 20 years in prison.

Defendant Ho Thi Thanh Phuc (former General Director of Sadeco) was sentenced to 9 years in prison for the crime of “violating regulations on management and use of State assets, causing loss and waste”; 7 years in prison for “Embezzlement of property”. The total penalty for both crimes is 16 years in prison.

The other defendants were also sentenced to between two years in prison and up to 13 years in prison.

After the first-instance hearing, Mr. Tat Thanh Cang and Te Tri Dung and 8 accomplices filed an appeal.
