2-year-old boy shot dead father, mother charged with manslaughter

The victim’s wife, Ayala Marby, 28, was charged with manslaughter by unfortunate negligence, possession of a firearm from the convict, possession of ammunition from the convict, violation of probation.

Previously, both Reggie and Ayala Marby were on probation for child neglect and drug possession. Ayala has been in prison since June 6 (local time). Online court records show she is being represented by a public defender’s office but no further details were provided.

Ayala told police her 5-year-old son told her her 2-year-old brother fired the gun, but could not explain how the weapon ended up in the boy’s reach. All three of the Marbys’ young children were unharmed by the shooting and are being cared for by the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Police chief Mina lamented: “Now, these children have lost both parents. And a child has to live a life knowing that he shot his biological father.”
