At the recent forum on connecting agricultural products 970, Mr. Doan Ngoc Co, deputy director of Gia Lai Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that this province has just put passion fruit on the list of one of the four key fruit trees of Gia Lai province. province and has the largest area in the country with 4,000 hectares. By 2025, this province plans to develop passion fruit trees to 20,000 hectares, becoming the largest passion fruit capital in the country.

According to the Department of Cultivation, passion fruit is in the top 10 fruit trees with the highest export value in 2021. In the past five years, Vietnam’s production and export value of passion fruit has increased by more than 300%. Vietnam’s export of this product is only behind Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador.

Currently, Vietnamese passion fruit has been exported to markets with strict requirements for quality, quarantine and food safety such as: France, Germany, the Netherlands, Korea, Taiwan (China), and Switzerland. . The ministry is negotiating to open the market for fresh passion fruit to other major markets such as Australia, Japan, and Thailand.

This year, passion fruit output is estimated at 135,000 tons, planted mainly in Gia Lai and Dak Lak. This is a plant that is evaluated by the locality for its high economic efficiency. Profit per hectare of passion fruit is up to 350-400 million VND.

Besides passion fruit, durian is also being drafted by China, expected to sign this year. For the US market, pomelos are also completing the final steps to be exported.
