Recently, according to a study from Hive Systems, a cybersecurity company based in Richmond, Virginia, shows how long it can take the average hacker to crack the passwords that protect your most important online accounts. Do you know the exact number?

These studies show that even an eight-character password – with a combination of numbers, uppercase, lowercase, and symbols – can be cracked by the average hacker within eight hours. Any password that is shorter or less complex can be cracked instantly or within minutes by any hacker even if they only use fairly basic equipment.

Whereas a password has length 18 characters – and use a combination of numbers, lowercase and uppercase letters, and the symbol – it can take up to 438 trillion years for the average hacker to crack, according to Hive Systems.
